Youth Volunteers

DakotaDakota - 2011 ROCK Outstanding Student Recipient

Dakota is an 11th grade student at Bullock Creek High School.  He is currently employed at Rally’s. Dakota is always helpful and respectful to both the staff and other students at The ROCK Youth Center and sets a great example.  This fall we had a work day at The ROCK.  Dakota, along with his brother and friend, were at the ROCK waiting for the staff to arrive at 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning.  They had their tools and more energy than the rest of us.  They worked all day long and helped make their ROCK a better place.

Congratulations Dakota!

Adult Volunteers

JudyJudy - 2011 Plante Heart of Service Award Recipient

Judy has been serving the ROCK in many different capacities for 8 years.  She is on the planning committee for the annual fundraising dinner and the fundraising committee.  She rallies together volunteers when mailings need to be done or when there are other big office projects.  Judy jumps in and cooks when we need a cook, helps at every special event she is able to and does holiday crafts with the students and the students call her Grandma.  We know we can call Judy when we need help and she will find a way to help us.

Thank you Judy!

Gerry - 2011 Friend of the ROCK Award RecipientGerry Kenyon award

Gerry has helped us coordinate and move the modulars that were gifted to us by Messiah Lutheran Church.  This project started in May of 2010 and continues to this day. Gerry has been committed to see it through and has gone above and beyond.  We met many unexpected challenges on this project and Gerry never lost his patience nor gave up! During this time he faced many personal and physical issues as well. Actually he even continued to work on this project from his hospital bed……..

Thank you Gerry! (Gerry is pictured here with Jimmy Greene, president of ABC)

Cathy - Cooking with Cathy on Wednesdays during school year - My passion in life is to serve God through serving others, focusing mostly on youth. I devoted myself to raising our children and in the process helped raise many others as well. I've been the Wrestling Team "Mom" and the Track Team "Mom", supporting, loving and sometimes correcting them all. I have served in Youth Ministry at our church since 1992, leading small groups, doing outreach projects, and serving on the Youth to Youth Retreat Team. I particulary enjoy the creative aspects of planning for youth ministry. I also love gardening, reading and writing and traveling.
